Dear Duff parent,

This is a friendly reminder that we will begin to use the East Gate for student drop-off beginning today Thursday Oct. 1st.  We kindly ask all parents to pull all the way forward before dropping off students to help keep traffic moving safely and efficiently.

As a reminder, students should open their own car doors, unbuckle themselves, and exit the vehicle independently. Per district safety and liability protocols, school staff and PTO volunteers should not open car doors, reach inside vehicles to assist students, or open/reach into trunks to retrieve backpacks or other belongings. Staff and volunteers may assist with a backpack or other item when it is handed to them by the student.

If a younger student is unable to open the car door or unbuckle independently, we kindly ask parents to park their vehicle and walk their child to the entrance rather than using the valet/drop-off line. This will help keep the drop-off line moving smoothly, reduce congestion, and create a safer and less stressful morning arrival experience for everyone.

It is extremely important that all Duff parents follow our safety protocols every morning during drop-off, there are no exceptions!  These procedures are in place to prevent accidents and keep everyone safe. We all share the responsibility of keeping our students, families, and staff safe.

Please follow these important traffic safety rules:
  • Leave home 5–10 minutes earlier and aim to arrive between  7:45–8:00 a.m. to avoid rushing in after 8:10 a.m.
  • Pull all the way forward when dropping off your child(ren). 
  • If you are at the front of the line, please pull forward all the way to the front of the white line to avoid blocking traffic behind you.
  • Do NOT cut acorss in front of any vechicles, line up after one another 
  • Always use the crosswalk when crossing
  • When the crossing guard has his STOP signs up, you STOP and do not move forward! 
  • Do not park or double-park in the drop-off zone or block a neighbor’s driveway.
  • Do not make U-turns near the school drop-off area.
